Village in the Shade HP & Stamina Guide

Stamina and HP are independent gauges. Stamina mainly gates work and other physical actions; HP mainly absorbs damage. Food can restore current values, while Fox Fried Tofu and Nushi's Scale permanently raise different maximums. The Japanese release commonly calls Stamina 元気 and HP 体力; this site keeps its working English terms until Western UI wording is confirmed.

HP vs Stamina

Never substitute a current value for a maximum, or HP for Stamina. A recovery action fills a current gauge; a progression reward changes a maximum gauge.

Exhaustion boundary

What Happens at Zero Stamina?

Reaching 0 Stamina does not automatically faint the player. The strongest current wording describes loss of Stamina-consuming actions, not a universal walking ban.

Safe wording: zero Stamina is not published as a faint, HP conversion, hospital trip or money penalty. Talking, shopping, sleeping, eating and fast travel are not individually normalized by the current repository. Ordinary walking may be what a guide means by “cannot move,” so this page does not broaden that phrase into a universal movement restriction.

Current-value recovery

How to Restore Stamina

These methods refill current Stamina. None of the following should be read as a maximum-Stamina upgrade.

Food

Eat a raw crop, forage item, processed food or cooked dish only where its shared record supplies a Stamina value. Recovery varies by item.

Cooking recovery database

Sleep

Current Japanese guidance reports that Stamina is full the next morning. Sleep ends the day, so it is a next-day reset rather than an in-day refill.

Time & Sleep authority

Hot Spring

After B120F, bathing restores current Stamina to the current maximum and costs 1 in-game hour. It does not restore HP.

Hot Spring unlock route

Damage recovery

How to Restore HP

HP recovery is a separate field. A food can restore Stamina without restoring HP, and the Hot Spring is not an HP heal.

Cooked food

Use the shared recipe record's explicit hpRecovery value. The representative table below shows dishes that restore both current HP and current Stamina.

Open full Cooking guide

Raw food

Current crop and forage authorities provide selected Stamina values, but no general raw-food HP rule. Do not infer HP recovery from a crop's sell price or Stamina field.

Sleep and Hot Spring

Sleep's HP result is unresolved. The Hot Spring's HP result is explicitly no. Damage prevention such as the Straw Doll is not recovery.

Food That Restores Both HP and Stamina

This is a representative recovery table, not a second recipe database. Ingredients, complete unlock routes and restaurant/festival ownership remain on Cooking.

Highest recorded Stamina

Yakisoba is the highest Stamina value in this selected table. That is a numeric criterion, not a universal best-food recommendation.

Highest recorded HP

Yakisoba is also the highest HP value in this selected table. Material cost, timing and availability are not complete enough for a value ranking.

Simple early example

Boiled Egg uses Egg ×2 in the shared record and restores both gauges. It is a practical example, not an objective champion.

Raw crops and forage

Record-based Stamina recovery

The current repository stores raw recovery on individual records. It does not currently encode a verified universal floor(base sell price × 0.75) formula, so this page does not apply that formula to crops, forage, fruit, livestock goods or processed goods.

Crops

The shared crop authority supplies Stamina values such as Corn +32, Napa Cabbage +143 and Green Onion +57. These are raw crop records, not cooked dishes.

Quality changes sale-value handling elsewhere; the shared recovery field is not multiplied by a quality or branding sale multiplier. The exact engine formula and quality edge cases remain unresolved.

Browse crop-specific recovery

Forage and processing

Foraging owns the full seasonal list. A few current records include Stamina values—Dandelion, Bamboo Shoot, Loquat and Matsutake—but the full list does not belong here. Processed outputs keep their own machine records and must not inherit raw-crop formulas.

End-of-day recovery

Does Sleeping Restore HP and Stamina?

The two stats must be recorded separately.

Ends day

Yes

Current Japanese guidance says sleep makes Stamina full, so there is no next-day carryover benefit from preserving a partially full Stamina gauge. That does not prove HP is also full. Exact bed timing, clinic penalties and any forced-return edge case belong to the broader time/night authorities and are not expanded here.

In-day full refill

Hot Spring Recovery

The Hot Spring is a current-Stamina refill, not a maximum-stat item.

Permanent Stamina progression

How to Increase Maximum Stamina

Fox Shrine rewards change the maximum; they are not ordinary cooked food.

Fox Fried Tofu

狐の油揚げ

Complete the relevant seasonal Fox Shrine offering progression. Each confirmed reward adds one full maximum-Stamina gauge segment. It is not added to the ordinary Cooking recipe table, and the current record does not verify whether receiving it also fills the new segment.

Recovery is different

Food, sleep and Hot Spring refill current Stamina. Fox Fried Tofu changes the upper limit. A larger maximum does not imply a larger numeric recovery from every food.

Where HP matters

Mining, Hunting and Midnight preparation

HP is damage context; Stamina is action budget. The encounter pages own their hazards and combat rules.

Quarry

Deep Quarry enemies can damage HP. Carry food with an explicit HP field and use the Mining guide for floor and boss details.

Mining authority

Hunting

Hunting hazards remain on the Hunting and Wild Animals pages. This guide does not invent damage values or HP=0 rules for them.

Hunting authority

Midnight

Midnight encounters have their own return and anomaly rules. The Straw Doll prevents one damage event; it is not HP recovery.

Midnight authority

There is no universal HP=0 rule published across every activity.

Other

Unknown

Current sources warn about reaching 0 HP during Midnight and Quarry play, but the repository does not normalize the exact consequence, item loss, money loss, clinic route or time shift by context. This page therefore reports preparation and links out rather than creating one universal penalty.

Mode boundary

Shade vs Sunshine

Mode availability is not inferred from the fact that a mechanic exists in Shade.

Village in the Shade

The current repository models Fox Fried Tofu, Nushi's Scale and the Hot Spring in the Shade record set. These are the facts used by this authority.

Village in the Sunshine

Full recovery parity and facility/reward availability remain unresolved. Do not promise Fox or Nushi progression in Sunshine without a mode-specific record.

HP & Stamina Troubleshooting

My Stamina reached zero but I did not faint

That matches the verified boundary. Use food, sleep or the Hot Spring; the precise ordinary-walking rule remains unverified.

I ate food but HP did not recover

Not every edible item has an HP value. Check the shared recipe or item record rather than assuming Stamina recovery includes HP.

A better-quality crop did not restore more Stamina

The recovery field is separate from quality-adjusted sale value. The current shared data does not apply a sale multiplier to recovery.

The Hot Spring did not increase maximum Stamina

That is expected. Hot Spring fills current Stamina; Fox Fried Tofu is the maximum-Stamina progression reward.

Nushi's Scale did not affect Stamina

That is expected. Nushi's Scale is maximum HP progression; Fox Fried Tofu is the separate maximum-Stamina reward.

I cannot find Fox Shrine or Okami Pool

Use their acquisition authorities and the Midnight/Map pages. This guide summarizes the stat effect without duplicating location routes.

FAQ

HP and Stamina questions

Visible answers and FAQ schema use the same shared list.

What is the difference between HP and Stamina?

Stamina is the current resource for work and other Stamina-consuming actions. HP is the damage-survival resource. Current HP, maximum HP, current Stamina and maximum Stamina are four separate values.

What happens when Stamina reaches zero?

There is no automatic faint at 0 Stamina. Current Japanese guidance reports that Stamina-consuming actions, including tool use, become unavailable. Whether ordinary walking is blocked is not separately verified.

Do you faint at zero Stamina?

No automatic faint is currently verified. Zero Stamina is an action-availability boundary, not a published HP-overexertion or money-loss rule.

Does zero Stamina drain HP?

No verified HP-overexertion conversion is published. Do not import that mechanic from another farming game.

How do you restore Stamina?

Use a food with a documented Stamina value, sleep for the next day, or use the Hot Spring after its B120F unlock. These restore current Stamina; they do not raise maximum Stamina.

How do you restore HP?

Use a food whose shared recipe record has an HP value. Raw crop and forage records currently do not provide a general HP-restoration rule. The Hot Spring does not restore HP.

Does sleeping restore Stamina?

Yes, current Japanese guidance describes Stamina as full the next morning. Sleep ends the day. The repository does not independently verify the amount of HP restored by sleep.

Does sleeping restore HP?

Unknown in the current canonical repository. Stamina recovery after sleep must not be expanded into an HP-full claim.

Does the Hot Spring restore Stamina?

Yes. It restores current Stamina to the current maximum and advances the clock by one in-game hour.

Does the Hot Spring restore HP?

No. The shared Hot Spring record explicitly sets HP recovery to false.

Does the Hot Spring increase maximum Stamina?

No. It fills current Stamina only. Maximum Stamina is a Fox Shrine progression system.

How do you increase maximum Stamina?

Complete the relevant Fox Shrine offering progression and receive Fox Fried Tofu (狐の油揚げ). Each confirmed reward adds one Stamina gauge segment.

What does Fox Fried Tofu do?

Fox Fried Tofu is a progression reward, not an ordinary tofu recipe. It raises maximum Stamina by one gauge segment; the current data does not verify a raw-point conversion, starting bars or final cap.

How do you increase maximum HP?

Offer the eligible cursed items at Okami Pool and follow the Nushi progression to obtain Nushi's Scale (ヌシの鱗). It raises maximum HP; the exact numeric increment remains unresolved.

What does Nushi's Scale do?

Nushi's Scale belongs to the Okami Pool route and increases maximum HP. It does not increase Stamina, and it is not the Nushi Fish catch.

How much HP does Nushi's Scale add?

The current canonical record confirms the direction of the effect but not the exact heart or point increase.

How many Stamina bars can you get?

The exact starting bar count, number of permanent Fox rewards and final maximum are not verified here. Do not promote an external 5-bar claim to canon.

Does crop quality increase Stamina recovery?

The shared crop authority stores raw recovery separately from quality-adjusted sale value. No quality multiplier is applied to the recovery values shown here; the universal formula and every quality edge case remain outside this page.

What foods restore both HP and Stamina?

Boiled Egg, Corn Soup, Yakisoba, Salt Rice Ball, Baked Sweet Potato, Kashiwa Mochi, Candied Apple, Soda Float and Three-Color Dango are representative shared recipe records with both values.

Is Boiled Egg good for recovery?

It is a practical early example because the shared recipe uses Egg ×2 and restores both current Stamina and HP. It is not declared the universal best food.

Do HP and Stamina work the same in Village in the Sunshine?

No mode parity is verified for the full system. The current max-stat progression records are Shade-only, and Sunshine availability remains unresolved.
