Weather Guide: Rain, Thunderstorms & Snow
Weather affects more than farming. Rain, Thunderstorm and Snow are separate gameplay states, and several Midnight anomalies require a specific weather condition. Rain Whistle can increase the chance of Rain on the following day, while Thunderstorm can also block certain future event unlocks. Farming effects are reported only where current data confirms them.
Quick answer: Rain and Thunderstorm are separate gameplay conditions. Snow is not Rain, and a qualifying weather state does not guarantee a Midnight session or anomaly. Check the exact in-game label/icon before planning.

Four live weather IDs
The shared model keeps the weather taxonomy small and explicit; no visual effect is promoted into a fifth gameplay state.

The current UI model is a weather icon paired with a text label. The shared icon labels are Clear / Sunny (☀), Rain (☂), Thunderstorm (⚡), Snow (✦).

Rain + thunder/lightning
Current gameplay evidence describes the Rain icon and thunder/lightning icon appearing together. For anomaly and event logic, use the distinct thunderstorm ID.

Rain's confirmed field relation is kept separate from Ridge, Paddy, Greenhouse and fruit-tree behavior.

Field and Ridge
Rain has a confirmed ordinary outdoor field relation. Ridge-specific rain behavior remains unresolved; use the Farming Guide for care rules.
Paddy
Paddy has shared water mechanics and does not inherit an invented Rain, Thunderstorm or Snow effect. Use Paddy Farming.
Greenhouse
A roof does not prove weather immunity. Rain, Thunderstorm and Snow penetration remain unknown; season protection and weather interaction are separate. See Greenhouse.
Sprinklers remain an alternative watering system. No weather bonus to crop quality, growth speed, yield, fertilizer, livestock, fishing, hunting, forage or fruit trees is currently published.

Correct weather is one condition, not a guarantee of a Midnight session or successful anomaly appearance.

Rain
Karakasa requires the exact rain condition. Ordinary Thunderstorm is not substituted.
Thunderstorm
Fujin & Raijin requires thunderstorm. A Thunderstorm does not prove the encounter will spawn.
Snow
Yuki-onna uses snow with Winter recorded in the anomaly context. Do not generalize this to all Winter nights.
Use Midnight System for session mechanics and Night Anomalies for solutions and rewards.

Rain Whistle
Weather summarizes the documented effect; Whistles owns identity, acquisition and the whistle family.

Rain
Check Karakasa and Lost Book No. 43. Confirm whether your field watering is handled by the current Rain relation.
Thunderstorm
Check the Fujin & Raijin opportunity. After September 29, review the specific future event blocker before attempting feature unlocks.
Snow
Check the Yuki-onna opportunity and its Midnight/session conditions. Do not infer Snow watering.

Weather questions
What weather types exist?
The current repository has four live weather IDs: clear, rain, thunderstorm and snow.
Is Rain different from Thunderstorm?
Yes. They are separate gameplay states. Rain maps to Karakasa; Thunderstorm maps to Fujin & Raijin. Rain does not automatically satisfy the Thunderstorm condition.
How can I tell when it is a Thunderstorm?
Current gameplay evidence describes a Rain icon together with a thunder/lightning icon. Internally and for progression, treat the state as thunderstorm, not ordinary rain.
Can I see tomorrow's weather?
A repository-backed forecast UI, source, window and accuracy rule are not currently normalized. Do not claim a seven-day, three-day or guaranteed tomorrow forecast.
Does Rain water crops?
Rain has the confirmed current relation for ordinary outdoor field crops. Ridge, Paddy, Greenhouse and fruit-tree weather effects remain separate or unresolved.
Does Thunderstorm or Snow water crops?
No separate automatic watering relation is confirmed for either state. Keep both values unknown rather than inheriting Rain behavior.
Which anomaly appears in Rain, Thunderstorm and Snow?
Karakasa uses Rain, Fujin & Raijin uses Thunderstorm, and Yuki-onna uses Snow. Weather is a condition, not a guaranteed Midnight session or anomaly spawn.
What does Rain Whistle do?
It increases the chance of Rain the next day. Its exact percentage, stacking, use limit and Thunderstorm influence are unknown.
Does Rain Whistle guarantee Rain or Thunderstorm?
No. It is not a Rain guarantee and no Thunderstorm effect is documented.
Can Thunderstorm block events?
The announced September 29, 2026 Farm Expansion and Furniture Catalog feature-unlock events can be blocked by Thunderstorm days. This is future-only on the current date.
Does weather change shops, NPC schedules or festivals?
No current weather override is normalized. Use Shop Schedules, Villager Schedules and Festivals instead of assuming cancellations or schedule changes.
Does Village in the Sunshine use the same weather system?
Mode parity for weather generation, farming effects, Midnight anomalies and the future blocker is not fully confirmed; the mode model keeps those fields null.
