Broad hunting authority

Hunting Guide: Bow, Animals & Hunting Tips

Hunting is a loop of permission, approach, resolution and submission. This guide owns Bow hunting, animal behavior and practical tactics; exact license prices, trap compatibility and Certificate reward records stay with their specialist authorities.

License → Bow or Trap → Hunting Certificate → Hunter Lodge materials. Chief Deliveries consume the resulting materials, not Certificates.

The hunting loop

What to do before, during and after a hunt

The broad sequence is stable; the detailed records live on the license and trap authorities.

01

Have the species license

02

Choose Bow or an appropriate Trap

03

Approach and resolve the hunt

04

Receive a Hunting Certificate

05

Submit at Hunter Lodge for materials

Progression handoff

Hunting opens through Shiroji's Helping progression. The exact multi-day sequence belongs to Helping Tickets; current license stock and prices belong to Hunting Licenses.

License versus Certificate

A Hunting License is permission/progression access. A Hunting Certificate is proof generated after a successful hunt. The repository does not establish license permanence or Certificate consumption semantics.

Bow hunting

Positioning beats invented damage math

Bow hunting is the broad guide's strongest unique section. Exact Bow damage, critical mechanics and per-species arrow counts remain unknown.

Flee-oriented targets

Squirrel, Rabbit, Weasel, Tanuki, Fox, Pheasant may flee when approached or attacked. Species do not automatically share identical AI, so use category guidance rather than an invented detection radius.

  • Approach slowly.
  • Shoot before detection when practical.
  • Use terrain to limit escape routes.
  • Keep line of sight.

Aggressive targets

Boar, Deer, Bear can become dangerous. Prioritize distance, attack animation timing, recovery windows and terrain instead of chasing a damage formula.

  • Do not stand in a charge path.
  • Create distance before firing.
  • Use recovery windows.
  • Lead Boar or Deer toward a Snare when appropriate.

Bow cost boundary

AppMedia describes Bow use as avoiding repeated Trap purchase cost once you have the weapon. That does not prove Bow hunting is free: arrow costs or requirements remain unresolved.

Bow-compatible targets are shared with the Hunting Traps matrix, but Bow tactics stay here.

Animal behavior

Species tactics without duplicating trap tables

Use the behavior summary for approach decisions, then open Hunting Traps for exact compatibility.

Boar

Boar can charge and are Bow-compatible. A Snare can support an active lead strategy; detailed placement belongs to Hunting Traps.

Deer

Deer can become dangerous when provoked. Maintain distance, avoid the charge path and use Bow or the documented Snare technique. Rule VI specifically requires the Deer Hunting License.

Open Rule VI guide

Bear

Bear damage is very high. Current guides use a Box Trap as a physical obstacle for a safer Bow angle; that is positioning, not evidence of normal Box Trap Bear capture.

Current normal species set: Squirrel, Rabbit, Weasel, Tanuki, Fox, Pheasant, Boar, Deer, Bear. Special large-animal Boss / 主 variants are modeled as certificate variants of Boar, Deer and Bear; they reuse material types, while exact spawn rules and reward quantities remain unresolved. Use Rare Deer for specialist research.

Bow versus Trap

Choose the method that fits the behavior

This is a high-level decision guide, not a second Trap database.

Bow

Active, ranged and behavior-driven. Best when you can preserve distance, line of sight and a recovery window.

Box Trap

The passive option with next-day behavior in the specialist data. Exact targets and bait support belong to Hunting Traps.

Snare Trap

An active lead technique for Boar and Deer. Do not assume Snare supports Hunting Bait; that remains unconfirmed.

Hunting Bait currently confirms Box Trap support only. Its exact probability, duration, target weighting and Snare support are unknown. Hunting Bait is not Fishing Chum.

Certificates and materials

Hunting Certificates resolve into material types

Hunting owns the certificate-to-material relationship; downstream pages own recipes, delivery requirements and processing.

Base species

9

Derived from the shared licensed wildlife registry.

Certificate records

12

Nine normal records plus three special large-animal variants.

Reward quantities

Unknown

Material types are reconciled; unsupported quantities remain null.

Successful hunts produce a Hunting Certificate; they do not directly award the full material bundle. Submit it at the Hunter Lodge. Hunting Licenses owns license pricing and submission records. Chief Deliveries, Composter, Cooking, Processing and Crafting own downstream uses.

Future boundary

Pheasant License is current/live; Camp furniture is future-only

Pheasant is already part of the current nine-license set. The downstream 11-item Camp-series furniture unlock remains FUTURE for September 29, 2026 and is owned by the specialist license/shop/furniture authorities.

FAQ

Hunting questions

How does hunting work?

Get the correct Hunting License, hunt with a Bow or an appropriate Trap, receive a Hunting Certificate, then submit it at Hunter Lodge for the documented material exchange.

How do you unlock hunting?

Hunting opens through Shiroji's Helping progression. Use Helping Tickets for the exact multi-day sequence, then Hunting Licenses for the current stock and prices.

Do you need a Hunting License?

Yes. Have the correct species license before hunting. Licenses and prices belong to the Hunting Licenses authority.

How should I hunt fleeing animals?

Approach slowly, take the first shot before detection when practical, use terrain to limit escape directions and keep line of sight. Exact detection radius is unresolved.

How do you hunt Boar or Deer?

Both are Bow-compatible and can be used with the documented Snare lead strategy. Maintain distance and avoid standing in the charge path; exact damage and hit counts are unknown.

How do you hunt Bear?

Bear is Bow-compatible and its damage is very high. A Box Trap may serve as a positioning obstacle, but normal Box Trap capture compatibility for Bear is not confirmed.

How many arrows does each animal take?

Exact per-species arrow counts and Bow damage are not canonical. Plan for multiple shots and prioritize positioning instead of relying on an invented hit-count table.

Does Hunting Bait work with every Trap?

No. Current direct data confirms Box Trap support; Snare Trap support, probability, duration and target weighting remain unresolved.

What is a Hunting Certificate?

It is proof generated after a successful hunt. Hunter Lodge owns the submission and material baseline; a Certificate is not the same as a Chief Delivery item.

Are rare or special 主 animals guaranteed to give better rewards?

No such guarantee is canonical. The current Boss / 主 records for Boar, Deer and Bear reuse the base species material types; exact spawn rules and reward quantities remain unresolved, and they do not create separate licenses.
