System timing authority
Village in the Shade Time & Sleep Guide
Sleep ends the daytime turn and restores current Stamina by the next morning. In Shade mode, some nights can instead lead into Midnight exploration. The important boundaries are separate: 23:00 is curfew, 00:00 is the Midnight clock label, 05:00 removes many active ghosts and 06:00 sends you home.
The short answer
Use the bed in your home when you are ready to end the day. Sleep restores Stamina, but sleep HP recovery is not verified. A Midnight wake-up is conditional, not an every-night guarantee.
Day flow
Normal day → sleep → next day
The shared calendar advances through a bed-triggered sleep transition. System-specific timers may have their own rules.
1. Finish the day
Normal daytime
Work, travel, shop and plan around the time-sensitive systems that matter to your save. There is no verified universal hard daytime cutoff published here. 23:00 / 11 PM remains a curfew boundary, not a bedtime rule.
2. End the turn
Home bed
The bed in the player's home is the confirmed sleep interaction in the current evidence. The exact earliest and latest sleep times, plus alternative bed behavior, remain unknown.
3. Wake next morning
Next day
The date advances and current Stamina is restored. Machine, crop, construction and livestock timers remain product- or system-specific. Sleeping is not treated as a universal one-day completion command.
Sleep recovery
Stamina and HP are separate questions
The current evidence confirms one recovery result and leaves the other open.
| Effect | Result | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Current Stamina | Restored by next morning | This restores the current gauge. It is not a permanent maximum-Stamina upgrade. |
| Current HP | Unknown | Do not infer HP recovery from the confirmed Stamina result. Food, Nushi's Scale and the Hot Spring belong to their owning systems. |
| Status effects | Unknown | No universal sleep-clearing rule is published in the current data. |
| Autosave | Unknown | Use the Save System guide for documented checkpoint boundaries; this page does not invent a sleep-animation save trigger. |
A maximum-stat upgrade is a different operation from recovery. HP & Stamina owns current versus maximum gauges and permanent upgrades.
Midnight timeline
Why did I wake up at Midnight?
A post-sleep wake-up belongs to the Shade-mode Midnight system, not to ordinary sleep on every save.
Unlock
Helping Ticket + Shelf
Free Midnight exploration is tied to the Helping Ticket progression and the Ghost Shelf sequence. Year 1 Spring 16 is a reference milestone; the story and shelf conditions own actual availability.
Eligibility
Conditional
Eligible sessions are intermittent or condition-based. Midnight is not guaranteed after every sleep once unlocked.
Mode
Shade-aware
Ordinary sleep is not claimed to disappear in Sunshine, but full Sunshine parity for Midnight wake-ups is not verified.
Suppression
Purifying Salt
Salt on the Ghost Shelf has the documented anti-anomaly effect. Its exact consumption and duration are unresolved.
23:00 / 11 PM
Curfew or rule boundary. Not the same as Midnight.
00:00 / midnight
Midnight exploration clock label in current research.
05:00 / 5 AM
Many active ghosts or dangerous encounters disappear.
06:00 / 6 AM
Midnight ends and the player is automatically returned home.
05:00 is not the end of the full night state. The final hour can remain available for movement or nearby collection where the relevant content is still present. Use Midnight Exploration for route and encounter details.
Time passage
Does time pass indoors and in menus?
Unknown is a valid result when the repository does not have direct testing or authoritative documentation.
| Context | Current answer | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Garden | Passes | Normal time advances here, except for the postgame Miracle Whistle. |
| Village and world map | Passes | Time-sensitive services and events use the normal day context; exact movement speed is not a clock formula. |
| Home interior | Unknown | The repository does not prove a universal indoor pause rule. |
| Shop, storage, Workbench and cooking UI | Unknown | Static menus do not establish whether the game clock advances. |
| Dialogue and cutscenes | Special | Story and event timing can override ordinary planning; no universal rule is claimed. |
| Festivals and contests | Special | Fixed event windows are owned by the Festivals & Contests guide. |
| Midnight | Special | Midnight has its own 05:00 and 06:00 boundaries. |
Fixed-time events
Festivals, contests and story events can override ordinary planning. Their start and end windows belong to Festivals & Contests.
Shops and villagers
Time matters because services and NPC availability use schedules. Exact opening hours and character routes belong to Shop Schedules and character guides.
Fishing conditions
Time is one possible condition axis alongside season and weather. The exact fish windows stay on the Fishing database.
Clock taxonomy
Not every clock effect is the same
Use the mechanic type before interpreting a time-related result.
Normal progression
The world clock advances through ordinary daytime activity; the exact real-time conversion is not established.
Paused clock
The visible world clock does not advance while a verified pause condition remains active. Unverified contexts stay Unknown.
Fixed time cost
A specific action advances the clock by a known amount, such as the Hot Spring's one in-game hour.
Scripted time jump
An event exits or completes at a known clock value, such as the Contest flow reaching 16:00.
Day rollover
Sleeping ends the current daytime turn and begins the next calendar day.
Midnight transition
Eligible Shade sleep can enter a special Midnight state; it is not ordinary late-evening activity.
Forced return
Midnight exploration returns the player home at 06:00; this is not fainting or normal morning-wake proof.
| Normal-day question | Current answer | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Morning wake / daytime start | Unknown | Do not infer 06:00 from Midnight's forced return. |
| Clock rate | Unknown | No real-second to game-minute conversion is published. |
| Walking / ordinary activity | Unknown | Tool and system-specific actions are not collapsed into one formula. |
| Curfew | 23:00 / 11 PM | A village-rule boundary, not automatically mandatory bedtime. |
| Midnight label | 00:00 / midnight | Separate from 23:00 curfew. |
Interior clock evidence
Player home is not every interior
The current repository does not promote community pause reports into a universal building rule.
| Location type | Clock | Evidence boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Player home — all floors | Unknown | Player testing reports a home pause, but current canonical data does not separate ground floor, second floor, basement or upgraded-house behavior. |
| General Store / Restaurant / Library / Clinic | Unknown | Opening hours and service ownership do not prove a universal interior pause. |
| NPC homes / Hunter Lodge / Kisuke office | Unknown | Schedule and event access do not prove a clock state. |
| Barn / Coop | Unknown | Animal-care ownership does not prove an indoor clock pause. |
| Greenhouse | Unknown | Indoor farming location does not automatically inherit a home pause. |
| Quarry / mine interiors | Passes | Quarry progression uses its own movement and floor systems; no universal pause is claimed. |
Home-pause wording: current player testing reports that the player's home pauses the visible clock, but the repository does not yet have direct versioned evidence for every floor, upgraded-house state or Midnight condition. Until that evidence is normalized, use Unknown for the public matrix and never infer that a processor, crop, animal or construction timer is paused or accelerated.
Menu and UI clock
A menu is not automatically a pause
Inventory, tool wheels, maps and dialogue remain separate evidence questions.
| UI context | Clock | Current evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Tool wheel | Unknown | No current canonical pause flag. |
| Inventory / map / pause menu | Unknown | A static UI does not by itself prove the simulation clock is paused. |
| Shop / crafting / cooking UI | Unknown | Loading or selecting an item is separate from its processing or recipe timer. |
| Dialogue / cutscenes | Special | Story and event sequences can override ordinary planning; no universal rule is published. |
Fixed costs and jumps
Known time costs are not universal sleep rules
These records come from their owning systems and are summarized here for planning.
fixed-time-cost
Hot Spring bath
60 in-game minutes
Restores current Stamina to the current maximum; does not restore HP.
Open owning guidefixed-time-cost
Minecart / Dog Whistle / movement shortcuts
Unknown
Movement ownership is verified, but a clock cost is not recorded.
Open owning guide| Event | Trigger | Clock result | Boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contest completion | Leave the Plaza after judging | 16:00 / 4 PM | Current contest data and guide testing use the 16:00 exit boundary. Owning guide |
| Harvest Festival exit | Leave the festival | 19:00 / 7 PM | Current festival notes report this event-specific jump; it is not generalized to every Festival. Owning guide |
| Other Festivals and story events | Event-specific | Unknown | Some events can override normal planning, but no universal fixed end time is claimed. Owning guide |
Save boundary
Morning wake and Midnight wake belong to Save System
Time & Sleep summarizes the boundary; it does not duplicate save history semantics.
Morning checkpoint
Treat this as the normal daily checkpoint boundary.
Midnight checkpoint
This is mode- and condition-dependent. It is not a promise that every night creates a second checkpoint.
History
Ver.1.09 save history and Clear Data remain owned by Save System.
Processing boundary
Does sleeping finish crops, machines or construction?
A day transition is not a license to recalculate every hidden timer.
No universal one-sleep rule
The repository records recipe timers such as 30 minutes, 12 hours and multiple days, plus construction durations from 1 to 5 days. Those values belong to their owning records. There is no verified universal rule that one sleep completes one processor day, construction day or crop stage.
If a machine is not finished after sleeping, check its exact recipe and timer in Processing. Do not assume that sleeping accelerated, paused or completed it.
Calendar progression still matters
Advancing to the next day advances day-based systems according to their own mechanics. Farming owns watering and growth, Animal Care owns product cadence, and Buildings owns construction times.
Postgame utility
How the Miracle Whistle stops time
The Miracle Whistle is a Garden-scoped postgame utility, not a general sleep or processing command.
奇跡の呼笛
Miracle Whistle
- Unlock
- Story clear
- Area
- Garden only
Time stops advancing while the player remains in their garden. Time resumes when the player leaves the garden. This helps with garden work and layout without spending normal daytime, but it is not an all-map time stop.
Whistles and activation interfaceTimer effects remain unknown
Current canonical data does not establish whether processor, crop or livestock timers continue while the whistle is active. The visible world clock stopping is not automatically proof of every hidden timer's behavior.
Time resumes when you leave the Garden. Postgame acquisition and continuation belong to the Postgame Guide.
Troubleshooting
Time & Sleep troubleshooting
I woke at Midnight
Check Shade-mode eligibility, Helping Ticket progression, the Ghost Shelf and whether Purifying Salt is suppressing the documented route. Midnight is not guaranteed every night.
I did not get Midnight
A missed wake-up does not prove a bug. Sessions are conditional, and Sunshine parity is not fully verified.
Ghosts disappeared, but I am outside
05:00 is the many-ghost disappearance boundary. You remain in the final hour until the 06:00 automatic return.
I reached 06:00
The normal Midnight flow returns you home. Current reliable sources do not document a standard money or item penalty.
My Stamina did not recover
Confirm that you completed the actual sleep/day transition. Then use the HP & Stamina guide for gauge-specific boundaries.
My machine did not finish
Check the item's recipe timer. One sleep is not a universal processor completion rule, and Miracle Whistle timer effects are unresolved.
FAQ
Time and sleep questions
How do you sleep?
Use the bed in the player's home to end the daytime turn. The current evidence does not prove that every bed-shaped furniture item can end the day.
Where do you sleep?
The player's home bed is the confirmed sleep location. Alternative beds and sleepover beds are not normalized by the current evidence.
Can you sleep at any time?
The earliest and latest ordinary sleep times are not verified. Do not use an unconfirmed 07:00 to 23:59 window as a hard rule.
Does sleeping end the day?
Yes. Sleep advances the day, with eligible Shade-mode Midnight sessions able to create a separate wake-up and exploration state before the next morning.
Does sleep restore Stamina?
Yes. Current Japanese guidance confirms Stamina recovery by the next morning.
Does sleep restore HP?
Unknown. The repository confirms Stamina recovery independently and does not expand that claim to HP.
Does sleeping complete machine processing?
Not universally verified. Processor timers remain recipe-specific, so one sleep should not be treated as a guaranteed one-day completion command.
Why did I wake up at Midnight?
You may have reached the Helping Ticket and Ghost Shelf progression, be in an eligible Shade-mode session and have no active suppression state. Midnight is not guaranteed every night.
How do you stop Midnight from happening?
Place Purifying Salt on the Ghost Shelf for the documented anti-anomaly shelf effect. Its consumption, duration and exact relationship to the wake-up transition remain unresolved.
What time does Midnight start?
Keep the two labels separate: 23:00 is the curfew boundary, while 00:00 is the Midnight exploration clock label used by current research.
What happens at 5 AM?
Many active ghosts or dangerous encounters disappear around 05:00. Midnight itself continues until the 06:00 forced-return boundary.
What happens at 6 AM?
Midnight exploration ends and the player is automatically returned home. Current reliable sources do not document a standard money or item penalty.
Does time pass indoors or in menus?
Some exact contexts remain unknown. Static UI or a paused animation is not enough to prove that the underlying clock is paused.
What does the Miracle Whistle do?
After story clear, it stops time while you remain in the Garden. Time resumes after leaving. Effects on machine, crop and livestock timers remain unknown.
Does Village in the Sunshine have Midnight wake-ups?
Ordinary sleep is not claimed to be removed, but full Sunshine parity for the Midnight wake-up flow is unresolved. Do not copy Shade-only Midnight steps into Sunshine.
