Village in the Shade Tool Upgrades Guide

Use this page for the canonical tool-tier graph, Anvil relationships, mold and Ingot boundaries, shared tool effects, mining access, priorities and the all-Meteor Iron condition. Unknown fields stay explicitly unresolved.

Short answer

Anvil → Mold → Ingot → Tool

Five families use the repository tier path Base → Copper → Steel → Gold → Meteor Iron. Each of the 20 non-Base transitions now has a shared Ingot ×5 relation; Mold quantity, fees, duration, previous-tier requirement and consumption remain unresolved.

Ingot quantities are confirmed where shown. That does not make the complete Anvil recipe known: Mold quantity or consumption, fee, duration, previous-tier prerequisite and direct-skip behavior remain unresolved.

01 · Anvil

Build and use the Anvil

The building record owns construction values; the tool recipe owns its separate unresolved fields.

The Anvil is ordered through Kisuke's construction service. Sazanka's Helping Ticket record separately points to Anvil availability in the General Store on the following day; exact shop-refresh timing remains unresolved.

Recipe fields kept open

  • Ingot input: Known ×5 on all 20 transitions
  • Mold quantity, money cost and upgrade time: Unknown
  • Whether the previous tool is consumed: Unknown
  • Previous-tier requirement and direct-skip behavior: Unknown

02 · Materials

Molds, Ingots and the Ore chain

Raw Ore is mined first, then processed in the Furnace. It is not silently substituted for an Ingot in an Anvil recipe.

Copper

Copper Mold

銅の型 · sazanka-general-store

Price: ¥1,000

Price and label are derived from the current General Store stock record; reuse is unknown.

Steel

Silver Mold

銀の型 · sazanka-general-store

Price: ¥3,000

The intermediate mold label conflicts across sources; the canonical stock ID and current shop label are retained without asserting that Silver equals Iron or Steel.

Gold

Gold Mold

金の型 · sazanka-general-store

Price: Unknown / not independently verified

The current shop draft lists ¥10,000, but a current external observation lists ¥7,500; the public price remains unresolved until reconciled.

Meteor Iron

Meteor Iron Mold

隕鉄の型 · sazanka-general-store

Price: ¥20,000

Price and label are derived from progression stock; exact refresh timing after Sazanka's ticket is unresolved.

The Furnace owns Ore → Ingot processing. The Mining guide owns floors and route details; this page only carries the upgrade-material handoff.

Watering Can

Forward linear reach; capacity is only shown for tiers with direct support.

Gold4 tiles forward160 tile-water usesgold-moldgold-ingot ×5
Meteor Iron5 tiles forward240 tile-water usesmeteor-iron-moldmeteorite-ingot ×5

Watering Can conflict: a secondary tool list omits Steel, while a Copper page publishes an Iron Mold/Iron Ingot recipe that conflicts with the repository's Copper naming. The shared tier-effects record now supplies the public reach values; capacity remains known only where the shared record supports it.

Hoe

Ordinary field-tilling area; Ridge remains a Shrine Skill.

The shared effect profile carries 1 tile → 2×2 → 3×3 → 4×4 → 5×5 for ordinary field tilling. Ridge farming is a Shrine Skill and is not a metal tier. Skills →

Pickaxe

Effects are target-dependent; do not publish a universal hit matrix.

Prioritize Pickaxe when ore or deeper Quarry work is the bottleneck. Quarry spawn floors do not prove a tool-tier requirement; the current resource records keep that field null. Mining →

Axe

Effects are tree- and obstacle-dependent; exact hit counts are not canonical.

Axe upgrades are useful when wood, buildings, charcoal or tree clearing are constraining the run. Exact hit counts and stamina changes remain unknown. Trees →

Plow

03 · Special case

Sickle is not a metal tier

Keep the two Sickle Skills separate from tool-tier progression.

Shop

Sickle · ¥500

Buy it from the General Store. It is not part of the five-family metal chain.

Sickle Technique

Stamina effect

Reduces stamina consumption when using the Sickle.

Sickle Upgrade

Harvest enablement

Allows crops to be harvested using the Sickle.

Ver.1.08 record; availability stage is still marked uncertain.

Harvest width, hit count, stamina numbers and any separate Sickle item tier remain Unknown. Do not merge Sickle Technique with Sickle Upgrade. Shrine Skills →

04 · Planning

Upgrade priority by bottleneck

There is no universal best order because each tool removes a different daily constraint.

Pickaxe

Mining and ore bottleneck

Watering Can

Large manual field workload

Axe

Wood, charcoal or tree clearing

Hoe

Field expansion and layout

Plow

Paddy-focused progression

Reserve Ore for the next upgrade before selling surplus. Sprinklers, buildings and machine recipes compete for the same Ingots, so compare the current bottleneck with the broader progression route.

05 · Completion

All-Meteor Iron condition

The completion set is dynamic and excludes non-metal tools.

Eligible: 5

  • ✓ Watering Can
  • ✓ Hoe
  • ✓ Axe
  • ✓ Pickaxe
  • ✓ Plow

Excluded

  • • Sickle — separate or non-metal tool record
  • • Bow — separate or non-metal tool record
  • • Flashlight — separate or non-metal tool record

The achievement and milestone pages own completion tracking; this route defines the five-family boundary.

06 · Troubleshooting

Common problems

The upgrade option is missing

  • Check that the Anvil is available and the correct station is being used.
  • Check the tier-specific Mold and Ingot IDs.
  • Do not treat a Quarry floor as proof that a tool gate is met.
  • For the Watering Can, ignore the conflicting external Iron recipe until directly verified.

The number is not listed

That is intentional when current evidence does not independently confirm it. Missing values include most hit counts, stamina costs, tier geometry, per-tool quantities, fees, durations, mold reuse, direct skips, catalog completion and postgame rules.

FAQ

Tool upgrade questions

Answers stay within the current repository authority boundary.

Which tools use the metal upgrade chain?

Watering Can, Hoe, Axe, Pickaxe and Plow are the five repository-canonical families. Sickle, Bow and Flashlight are excluded from this chain.

Where are tool upgrades made?

The canonical station is the Anvil. Its building record owns construction details; this page owns the tool-tier relationship.

What does a Steel tool cost?

Each Steel-family upgrade has a confirmed Iron Ingot ×5 input. The Mold identity is retained independently; Mold quantity, money cost, time and previous-tool requirement remain Unknown.

Does the Watering Can have a Steel tier?

Yes. The shared canonical family is Base → Copper → Steel → Gold → Meteor Iron. A secondary list omits Steel, but that conflict does not override the repository family; no unsupported Iron Mold recipe is copied.

Is there a Meteor Iron Sickle?

Not in the canonical metal chain. Sickle Technique reduces Sickle stamina use, while Sickle Upgrade enables crop harvesting; both are Shrine Skills with separate ownership.

Which tool should I upgrade first?

Use the bottleneck rule: Pickaxe for mining materials, Watering Can for manual watering, Hoe for field preparation, Axe for wood, and Plow only when paddy work is the active constraint.

How do I make an Ingot?

Use the Furnace: five units of the matching raw resource plus one Coal or one Charcoal, with the current canonical processing time of 12 hours. Each eligible metal-tool transition currently has a confirmed corresponding Ingot ×5 input.

What counts for the all-Meteor Iron condition?

The five eligible families only: Watering Can, Hoe, Axe, Pickaxe and Plow. Sickle, Bow and Flashlight do not count.
