Lantern Ghost (提灯お化け) Guide
Lantern Ghost can appear randomly from Spring onward during Midnight. Stay out of its field of view, destroy five purple lanterns with the Pickaxe, then break the final lantern in the central village plaza. If you are spotted, Tenome / 手の目 appears instead.
English names follow current Japanese-release terminology. Western localization is not treated as live terminology.

Encounter flow
How to beat Lantern Ghost
There are five initial targets and one final plaza target. The final lantern is a separate phase.
01
Stay out of sight
Lantern Ghosts patrol the village. Move through the village outside their field of view. Exact detection distance and patrol routes are not documented.

Find five purple lanterns
Search the village for the five purple glowing lantern targets. Exact text locations are not verified in shared data, so no invented coordinate checklist is shown.

Break all five
Use the Pickaxe to destroy the five initial lanterns. No special Pickaxe tier or fixed hit count is established.

Reset if spotted
If the Lantern Ghost sees you, its patrol state changes to Tenome. Leave the village and enter again rather than continuing through the dangerous chase.

Go to the central plaza
After the fifth lantern, a message indicates that something new has appeared. Go to the central village plaza.

Break the final lantern
Destroy the new plaza lantern with the Pickaxe. This clears the encounter and removes the active Lantern Ghost and Tenome states.

Lantern Ghost and Tenome are related encounter states, not two names for one entity.
When detection occurs, Lantern Ghosts disappear and Tenome / 手の目 begin appearing. Current evidence describes Tenome as extremely fast, making exploration significantly harder. Exact speed, damage, HP and defeat rules remain unresolved.

Leave and re-enter
Reset the dangerous encounter state without claiming a global Midnight reset.
Leave the village and enter again. The chase state can reset. Do not assume that broken-lantern progress, the clock, health, or the entire Midnight session resets in a specific way.
